SPEAR: Secure and PrivatE smArt gRid

The Georgy Pukhov Institute for Energy Modelling of the National Academy of Science of Ukraine is a participant of the international project of the European Union Research and Innovation Program “Horizon-2020”. The SPEAR project: Secure and PrivatE smArt gRid is dedicated to the protection of smart grid elements from the cyber attacks, which are the power supply system of the next generation.
The SPEAR project is aimed at:
a) detection and response to cyber attacks using new technologies and capabilities;
b) timely detection of threats and anomalies;
c) development of solutions for the detection of “all-in-one” security;
d) the involvement of forensic expertise to ensure confidentiality;
e) the confrontation of Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) and targeted attacks in intelligent networks;
f) increasing the resilience of smart networks;
g) increasing trust in smart network operators and h) the expansion of the opportunities to reach a consensus in Europe.
There are 17 participants of the project. The international consortium includes universities, industrial enterprises and institutes from Greece, Spain, Luxembourg, France, Ukraine, Great Britain, Belarus, Bulgaria. The project is implemented in the direction of the program Horizon 2020 “Secure Societies: Protecting Freedom and Security of Europe and its Citizens”. The duration of the project is 36 months, the budget is 2965 thousand euros.
