Pukhov Institute for Modeling in Energy Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, JSC “Prykarpattiaoblenergo” together with the Center for Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics iSolutions and in partnership with companies from 13 European countries won the European Union program “Horizon 2020” in a highly competitive H2020 call “Cybersecurity of Energy Systems”. The joint innovative project “rEsilient and seLf-healed EleCTRical pOwer Nanogrid – ELECTRON” (Call: H2020-SU-DS-2020, Project 101021936) received approval for funding and implementation from the European Commission.
The innovative proposal from the consortium of partners is aimed at strengthening resilience to hacker attacks of such important infrastructure as energy through the development and use of secure software for smart grids, machine learning, development of risk management systems, development of training systems in cybersecurity. ELECTRON’s project was appreciated by the highest marks from an expert jury among more than a hundred other consortia that submitted their proposals.
The project is designed for 3 years. It will develop measures to improve the security of the infrastructure of automated commercial accounting systems and automated process control systems. The project program focuses on the implementation of next-generation power systems capable of resisting energy systems against cyberattacks, increasing data confidentiality through four main initiatives: risk assessment and certification, detection and prevention of anomalies, mitigation of failures and acceleration of power supply recovery, elimination of internal threats and through staff training and certification.
